EACH THERAPY HAS ITS OWN LIMITS
The following excerpt is from the self help
psychology book, Be Your Own Therapist.
To say that favorite therapy Brand X has limits will sometimes
not be accepted by either clients or therapists following X's
path. It makes sense that exploring X's areas of therapy deeply
will dictate less exploration in other areas. But followers of
Brand X will often label some other explorations impossible or
irrelevant.

One current such "impossibility" is not impossible at all,
namely the resolution of trauma from the first two years of
life. One verbally oriented psychiatrist recently proclaimed
that trauma resolution from the first two years of life was
impossible. He really was right, with his methods. His methods
were verbal, so why would one expect him to have success with
nonverbal trauma? You may have significant trauma from your
first two years. Common psychological traumas for babies are:
(1)pain during birth, (2)early painful medical interventions,
(3)parental addicts or abusers or (4)parental neglect of needs
for prompt care. If you believe you may have such trauma, the
following methods have had satisfactory success with early
nonverbal trauma: Rebirthing, Primal, EMDR and some bodywork
therapies (this author would recommend trying EMDR first).
Many therapists instantaneously dismiss the possibility of past
life trauma. For help here, ask therapists/ hypnotists in your
area if they know therapists doing this work. If past life
trauma is the source of your difficulties, conventional therapy
will not be of much help. Conventional therapy will often just
label you resistant. Do not rush to get past life therapy; for
most never seem to need it. Even fewer need it in the beginning
stages of therapy. (See Chapter 11 for more about this.)
